Subnautics: Below Zero The Frostbite Update is now available, bringing some significant new changes to the game and debuting a new story to replace one of the old stories from the beta.

New cinematic story and intro

Start your new adventure on Planet 4546B with an updated story and intro movie. As you encounter land on the surface, a new mystery awaits with new secrets to uncover about Alterra and Robin's sister, Sam. But a familiar presence also awaits you, deep below the surface...

glacial basin

Explore and study the cave and newly redesigned glacial basin biome. With more nooks and crannies, the pool now blends more seamlessly into the underwater experience.

Cold mechanics and weather escalation

Preventing hypothermia during exploration of the planet's surface became a problem with the introduction of cold mechanics. Be sure to get directions and take coffee with you on your adventures to stay out of the cold. Weather conditions also naturally increase, so keep an eye out for snow storms to roll in slowly.

Biomes and upgrades

Take the time to rediscover and explore the Thermal Vents and Lilypad Connection biomes. With further tweaks and improvements, these biomes have become more vibrant and varied with additional terrain detail.

quantum lockers

Use this precursor technology to access Quantum Locker vaults across the planet, wherever you are.

Status indicators

Want to know about the condition and durability of your items? Newly introduced status indicators will now visually tell you when they need a little care and attention.

Ore Vienna

On the hunt for rich natural areas? Keep an eye out for the Ore Veins in the Arctic Spiers and Glacial Basin, which will now provide increased materials for all your crafting needs.

Snowballs and water purification tablets

Dual purpose snowballs can save a life on more than one occasion. A well-timed throw can distract the Snowcatcher to facilitate your quick escape. But they can also be used in new water purification tablets, providing you with a new source of water and keeping you hydrated.

New Ice Worm animation

The fearsome Ice Worm has all new interactions and animations for you to uncover as you attempt to cross its treacherous territory. But this leviathan-class creature isn't just aimed at you.

surface beacons

Worried about losing your way on the surface? Beacons can now be used above ground, so you can highlight any important areas that you would like to easily rediscover.

Below, the Zero text is now sharper and cleaner than ever thanks to a new update that improves readability.
