In the game, Child is presented as a hydro archer, although most of the time you will prefer his melee stance with daggers. This is a selfish carry (semi-carry), whose mechanics are tightly tied to the cooldown time of the Spirit Form: Raging Waves talent (aka melee stance). Tartaglia performs well in AoE, but is weak against bosses and solo opponents. His second most popular build is the ultimate one-shot due to the high burst damage of the elements.

Child is one of the most complex and controversial characters in Genshin Impact. If you dreamed of a hybrid character switching between a bow and daggers, then I will immediately notice that Tartaglia is completely and completely imprisoned for a melee rack. He is not able to smoothly switch between weapons, but is tied to huge cooldowns, which requires much more effort and attention to control Childod than any other party member. Archery is presented rather as a rudimentary element of the set.

«Spirit Form: Raging Waves« Child discards the useless bow and draws his blades. After level 60+, each critical hit in melee stance will inflict the Ebb status on enemies, eliminating the need for a bow to create marks. If you overstay in the stance (max 30s), flashing swords appear above Child's head, saying that it's time to "turn off", otherwise +15s cooldown. As soon as you swap to another character, the stance automatically turns off and goes into cooldown.

«Chaos: Devastation« - Since Tartaglia regenerates well and you want to shoot with an ult, the melee variant of the ult is usually used.

Child is a full-blooded main dps and is not able to play the role of a full-fledged support, therefore it is correct to compare him only with other carry characters. Now he is not in the best place of the 5* dps list and definitely weaker than Tartaglia only Ke Qing (who is not very good due to electro). Let's analyze the strengths and weaknesses separately.

Causes of Weakness: Melee Rack. It would seem that she should deal really impressive damage, because we pay for this opportunity with a huge cooldown and the rejection of the elemental skill (stance replaces it). But no. In AoE - good, without a crowd of mobs - weak. Even if you calculate the total damage with marks and derive dps based on the time, and not the strength of one hit (attack speed is different for different characters). This fact is difficult to explain in terms of balance, because there are other characters with powerful AoE damage that fit well into single-target and do not suffer from kilometer cooldowns. And all this against the background of the fact that archery is even more helpless.

High attack speed - both plus and minus. On the one hand, this allows you to take advantage of such supports as C6 Fischl or Xing Tsu, because their abilities hit at the same time as the active character. And maybe even play with someone in the future. On the other hand, Child is not able to consistently vaporize with normal attacks to get a x2 damage multiplier, because he hits too often and too much + simultaneously procs the damage of marks. Not a single pyro support can cast fire so often and so quickly and will run into the cooldown of inflicting status from skills (there is such a topic…). So in a party with Tartaglia, the damage will be shown by his supports (closing the reactions) and not by him.

I have been going through the abyss for 36 stars for a long time and I have something to compare. However, this does not mean that Child will not cope there. He is quite a powerful character.

Tartaglia's strong point is his ult with the evaporation reaction. Probably, you could see videos with one-shots of bosses. But I immediately warn you: the damage shown there is for the most part donated overgear of whales. With such investments, any character will kill with one look. Ceiling of ordinary users ~ 100k.

The second character power is a strong AoE. The more mobs, the higher the Child's damage, since the damage is crossed from each mark. This allows you to literally "erase" crowds of mobs. But keep in mind that the AoE radius is quite small and often you need an anime character with a coupler.

Child is one of the most interesting and memorable characters in history. He has an impressively beautiful moveset and a charming smile. (Did you know that Tartaglia smiles every time he strikes?). In terms of turn lvl, Child still deals more damage than 4 * dps, and with proper preparation will close any current content. But Tarta, even in the first banner, was already “out of the meta” and most likely all subsequent DPS Persians will easily surpass him.

To give more detailed advice, let's define what you usually do in the game:

[1] I'm a casual player, I don't go to the abyss, only in co-op domains and even that is difficult.

“When traveling around the world, Child has no particular problem with the cooldown time of the skill, because enough time will pass between one and the other Hilichurl camp. However, there will be some problems when using Tartaglia in cooperative domains. He will be in a melee stance for about 35% of his time and most of the fight is forced to shoot with a bow, which he is not very strong at. There will be no problems with friends, but random players will sometimes not be too happy with him and ask to change Child.

[2] I go to the abyss, ftp or low/medium donation player. I don't have enough main dps for the main party. Or I just want to try Childe.

- The Abyss will show the problem of melee stance rollback from all possible negative sides, because the fight lasts long enough if you are not a whale. The default talent timer is "use time + 6 seconds". That is, by bringing the character to the battlefield for only 10 seconds, you will get a rollback of 16. This is a lot. So much time is very difficult to “fill” with supports and most likely one of them will have to beat with auto-attacks (Tartaglia’s shooting form is rather weak and is rarely used in serious competitions). This is complemented by the fact that the game does not have cooldown timers for elementary skills of inactive characters, and it remains only to randomly switch, trying to guess whether the timer has cooled down or not. Also, since Childe is on the battlefield for a fairly short time, he requires a very well-equipped party. However, with the right team and management, it is quite capable.

[3] I can c6 out and get the best weapon on the max awakening character.

— Then you should pay attention to Tartaglia's ultimate build. He is very strong.

Constellation Analysis

C1 (Spirit form. wave stopper) - Reduces stance mile cooldown by 20%. From 1 to 6 seconds depending on the duration. In the optimal rotation, where you sit on Tartaglia for no longer than 10 seconds, this is a gain of 2-3 seconds. The cooldown of the skill is still long, but the game will become smoother and you will miss the timer less often. The question is - is it worth getting a whole constant for a 5* character? If you can afford it and are a definite fan of Tartaglia, then it will make playing for him a little more pleasant. For low cost people, stay on C0, it's not worth it.

C2 (Spirit form. Hidden current) - Dying Enemies with the Mark give Tartaglia 4 damage. energy. Absolutely useless constellation. It does not work on bosses, and in a fight with a crowd of enemies, Tartaglia recovers her ult very quickly, even if you use only the melee option.

C3 (Chaos of the Abyss: Origin of Unrest) - +3 lvl of the second talent, like everyone else. Definitely useful.

C4 (Chaos of the Abyss: Hydro Spout) - Creates an additional "ebb" that itself triggers every 4s outside of the cooldown of standard marks. Suitable for permafreeze parties. In general, it increases DPS well, especially in the crowd, but there is one caveat. Due to auto-activation, it can destroy the preparation of the ult on fire, untimely removing the element from the target.

C5 (Chaos: Shapeless Blade)- +3 lvl ults. The most useful in the set.

C6 (Chaos: Angel Hunt) - allows you to reset the melee stance cooldown if you use your ult. Few places are useful for whales, because in the current content, any over-invested parties go through the last floors of the abyss in less than 30s. My only gripe is that most of the c6 constellations on 5* carries greatly increase their damage while Child is…just trying to fix his sick cooldown mechanic. Because of this, when compared to other 5* dps characters in their C6 constellation, the gap in overall damage with Child will be huge and not in his favor. Many dps characters outperform c6 child even in C0-C1 constellation. You just have to come to terms with this. If buying a C6 is a trifle for you, then what can I say. But many players who “became whales” specifically for Child and in general rarely cast their characters on C6 (only favorite ones) were very disappointed later when they started getting C0 Hu Tao, Gan Yu, Xiao, etc., and they easily did their c6 Child, on whom ideal arts were farmed for 3 months. So if you are not quite a whale, it is better to evaluate this purchase extremely seriously and critically.

 

How to play for Tartaglia and what to download?

For regular players, the melee stance swings first, the ult is almost on a par, and in the very last auto-attack. Nuance: pumping an auto-attack affects the damage of the "ebb" when the enemy dies, even if you fight exclusively in a melee stance. However, the death damage will slightly increase the overall dps, Child's AoE room kills quickly anyway. Therefore, you can save money on pumping this skill until better times. For those who are going to use Child exclusively as an ultimate bot, only the ult is pumped.

When you use the mile stance, try to be in it for no more than 6-7 seconds (rollback will be equal to ~12s). You can afford to sit longer only if you are clearly sure that you will finish off all the enemies during this time.

Optimal rotation: 1 hit + hold (best, but spends a lot of stamina) or 3 hits + hold. It should be borne in mind that the charge and the final attack in the rotation scatter enemies. Child's marks have a rather small AoE radius, and if the mobs move literally a meter away from the general pack, they no longer reach. Also, blows that scatter can knock down the enemy’s cast or hit his head against an obstacle, causing good additional physical damage. However, in all of the above cases, one must be able to hit the timing, since opponents often enter a state in which they are immune to knockback or interruption. Practice to understand how it works. Most often, there is a window at the beginning of the battle, and then, after a while, the opponents “uncast” and cease to perceive control. However, if you stager non-stop without letting the enemies start their animations, this can be done for quite a long time, until the mob dies. Knockback does not work on the biggest enemies or those under the shield.

Child hydro archer \ sword, therefore the only shields it is effective against are pyro fatui and pyro mages of the abyss. But he takes them very well.

 

Weapons and artifacts

 

For ascending, Child takes hydro damage, which is generally good, but makes it difficult to get the right amount of crits. So on the arts, we first of all need crits. They are absolutely necessary for any DPS in the game, and Tartaglia is also necessary for the work of the passive skill for tagging. On average, 48% to 60% crit chance will be enough and it is very difficult for Tartaglia to get more for an optimal stat ratio, where they usually try to keep crit damage 2-3 times more than crit chance. Elemental mastery basically only works on Tartaglia's ultbot and is not needed by a carry build, since Child applies water too quickly and too much, and your supports will more likely close reactions than he does. Energy recovery, HP and protection are not needed.

Hat for crit chance. Only the owners of a bow from the battle pass or 5* Skybow can afford a cap for crit damage, but you still need to slightly pick up KSh from the secondary attributes of the arts. Flower and Feather - look at the sub stats, crit is a priority. Hours - on% ATK. The cup is only hydro.

Top weapons:

1. Heaven wing (RH 22,1%). — top 5* leg. High base damage, gives KSh and CU (20% ~ 40%), a small additional damage from the ability, will go to both builds.

1.5. Stringless onions (165 MS). - only for the ult-bot. Increases ultimate damage by up to 48%. The ability does not work on melee stance (only on activation damage and marks).

2. Luke Amos (49,6% ATK). High damage, but only 1 half of the ability works in a melee stance.

2. Rust (41,3% ATK). - buffs auto attacks up to 80%, debuffs hold by 10%. Only for the carry that uses the melee stance. Despite the debuff of charged hits, even with rusty, we use them in the rotation. Alas, it does not buff marks or damage from the ult.

3. Green onions (KSh 27,6%) - better than rusty in AoE, but in general, in AoE, we already do good damage. But in solo-target he loses.

Other bows on Tartaglia:

Elegy of Doom We don't need energy recovery and mastery of the elements. The ability was created for supports.

Prototype Crescent - you need to spend time on a charged shot and, what is important, hit. But this is a good option for those who do not have top bows.

Ode to Anemone Elemental mastery, no thanks. But the ability will work.

Compound bow - physical damage is useless. The ability works, but it's of little use.

Battle Bow of Favonia - energy regeneration is not needed either in the ability or in the secondary stat.

Ceremonial Bow - energy is not needed, the ability does not work on the rollback of a mile stance.

Montenegrin bow - the ability only works in the crowd, which we already kill. On bosses and in high abyss, it is usually useless, so it is rarely recommended to anyone.

royal bow - a very weak set of weapons that has a bad ability. Not recommended to anyone.

The best party lineups

There are 2 main assemblies for Keri-Tarts that perform best.

[1] Vape/melt with Xiang Ling. Tartaglia + Xiang Ling + Bennet + Xing Qiu (Gan Yu).

The star of this party is Syanka. Tarta acts as a hydro-applicator for Xiang Ling's ult on water or frozen statues if we use Gan. Bennet is a universal addition to any party and we want to throw Tartaglia's spear at Beni's ult and show our 150k+. In addition, it is needed to charge Xiang Ling's expensive ult. Shin Tsu is also one of the strongest strong support dps. His ultimate creates swords that hit with each hit of the active character, and Child hits quickly, in addition, Xing Tsu's C2 constant reduces hydro resistance. However, the party with Gan Yu will be even stronger, this is an extremely oversized character and the damage of Xiangki's ult on the statues will be x2. Each constellation of Xing Tsu is great, Xiangka has a couple of dead points, but she really wants at least c4, Bennet badly needs C1, Gan and Tarta C0. Since the main weakness of Xiang Ling is the cost of the ult (80 energy), we should invest as much as possible in the regeneration on arts. By sets - Xiang Ling: x2 pyro + x2 know, Bennett: x4 know, Xing Tsu: x2 hydro + x2 know, Gan Yu: x2 cryo + x2 know, Tartaglia: x4 hydro. Weapon. Xiang Ling: legs > favonia spear > prototype: starlight > dragon spear * (if you were able to collect for 200% energy recovery without a spear for regen, then the dragon spear will give a lot of damage and you can safely put it in strength immediately after the legs), Bennet: falcon sword > leg > flash in the dark > prototype: malice (stone cutter), Xing Tsu with ceremonial or any other for energy regen, Tartaglia with legendary, rusty or green bow, Gan Yu: support bows (leg > stringless > hunter in darkness > favonium).

[2] Electro Child. Tartaglia + Fischl + Bei Dou + Xing Qiu.

Fischl C6 is the heart of this build and is ideal for DPS with high attack speed, as it gives an extra poke on every hit and Child hits fast. Bey Doe's ult deals tons of damage, and the consts give a shield. The main damage in this party comes from the abilities and attacks of the characters, and not the reactions of the elements, since the reactions of the electro are weak, so the Persians are going to standard crits and ATK + cups for the elements. The combination of a Bei Dou shield and a heal from Xing Tsu will usually cover the need for a healer, but if you want, take a heal in place of Xing Tsu. Also do not forget to collect Bei Dou more energy regen, the ult costs 80. Desired constellations: Fischl C6, Bei Dou S2+, Xing Tsu C2+. Sets: Fischl x2 electro + x2 gladiator, Bei Dou: x2 electro + x2 know, Xing Tsu: x2 hydro + x2 know, Tartaglia: x4 hydro. Weapons: Bey Doe will work with almost any sword in the game: lega > battle pass > prototype archaic \ rain cutter \ stone. Fischl: lega > stringless > green > event (stringless Fischl is issued despite the fact that the second stat is mastery of the elements, because he has a very powerful ability that buffs Oz). Xing Tsu always wants a ceremonial sword, and in the absence of it, puts on something for energy regen, but Tartaglia with a legendary, rusty or green bow.

Nuke party with Tartaglia.

Bennett's ult + Tartaglia's ult as the basis. Don't forget that activating the melee stance itself does damage and you need to stay a meter away from the mobs in order not to knock down the pyro status. As additional buffs, C2+ Clee for a debuff or Sucrose for an elemental mastery buff, using a x4 anemo set, or casting a pyro through a recolored ult will work well. You can use Mona for big numbers. Actual constellations: Tartaglia C5+, Bennett C5+, Sucrose C0+, Kli C2+. Sets: Tartaglia 2x Hydro + 2x Know, Bennett x4 Know, Sucrose x4 Instructor, Clee: It doesn't matter. Weapons: Tartaglia - p5 Stringless Bow, Bennet - Falcon Sword, Sucrose - p5 Dragonslayer Epic, Klee - p5 Dragonslayer Epic.

Let's also go over the other compositions:

Permafreeze party. Tartaglia acts as a hydro applicator, and his best partner is Gan Yu, due to the fact that he can give a permanent frieze. Konstovy Kaya or Rosary are also suitable. This is pretty much the only build where Child wants a C6, since he needs to be on the battlefield for a long time to constantly upgrade hydro.

Geo couple Albedo + Jun Li universal and can cling to any party. Albedo flowers have a hard 2s CD, so Tartaglia's attack speed won't be able to fully benefit from planting them. Albedo flowers can also be a problem due to the fact that there is no impact in the fall in the melee stance. If you cast your ult on a flower, it won't hit mobs either. In general, Albedo and Jun Li’s support build are weak with auto-attacks, but this lineup is quite effective on its own.

One of the strongest end game parties is the so-called "quick swap" (revolver), which consists of 4 4* characters: Bennet, Xiang Ling, Chun Yun and Xing Tsu. You can easily replace Xing Tsu with Tartaglia and it will work quite effectively. Chung Yun's C2 can reduce Child's skill cooldown, but you have to manually exit the stance rather than swap to another character. Too bad Chun Yun's aura doesn't increase Child's attack speed, since Tartaglia is still technically a bow (and doesn't recolor attacks to cryo). In general, Chun does not synergize very well with Child, so it is usually the vape comp without Chun that is used.

Barbara C2 has a const that grants a 15% hydro damage buff while her healing unit is active. In combination with the Epic of the Dragonslayers, this increase is not useful. Unfortunately, on her own, Barbara brings little impact to a DPS party and cannot be compared to the profit from Xing Tsu or Bennett, not to mention the disappointing Hydro Resonance. But you can take it to the party.

Sucrose or Venti good partners for Tartaglia in rooms where there are a lot of mobs and a coupler is needed. However, keep in mind that Venty's ult raises mobs and Child will be able to get there in a melee stance only with charged attacks. However, the ultimates will also reach out. You can also stand on a geo construct and hit from it. It is worth noting that Tartaglia is not very comfortable working with Sucrose if he is the only hydro in the party, because we cannot swap after activating a melee rack, and we still need to apply water. It remains only to throw a charged shot from a bow. Alas, you can’t throw Sucrose’s ult, and then switch to Tartaglia and expect that we will get the desired debuff. For the x4 bonus of an anemo set to be triggered, its carrier must be on the battlefield at the time of dissipation.

Many looking at Hu Tao, at first they thought: “Here it is, our semi-carry for Tartaglia!”, But in fact it is not so. Hu Tao is a completely independent dps and does not need a seven-carry, her downtime is low, and it is just enough to procast all the supports' abilities. While the skill set of Tartagli and Hu Tao is not intended for a support role and both of them practically do nothing outside the battlefield.
