The Outer Worlds: Where to Find Science Weapons, All Kinds

The Outer Worlds-img

Scientific weapons of the Outer Worlds The Outer Worlds is one of the best weapons you can get, with unique damage and status effects that can be boosted when you invest in your science skill. There are five outer worlds of Alcyone, and scientific weapons can be found in each of them.

The Outer Worlds-img

These guns were created by the mad scientist Phineas Wells. This is not to say that these hammers, clubs and pistols do a lot of damage, but the effectiveness of such weapons directly depends on how well you pumped the Science and Technique skills. All such weapons require energy ammo.

The real use of weapons is associated with their properties that destroy our understanding of physics. For example, a compressed beam temporarily makes your target 2-3 times smaller, deals plasma damage and reduces armor. The UDL submachine gun sprays special clouds that lift the target into the air.

When you first climb into the Hopeless, as its captain, read the notes of the previous leader, which are stored in the terminal inside the cabin. You will receive information about the first two types of weapons.

Target Shrink Blaster

To get this weapon, visit the laboratory of Phineas Wells and dig around on the tables located near the scientist.

A hammer that deals all types of damage at the same time

Go to Gladys on the Pathfinder, trade with her and buy the necessary notes in the quest items section. One of them will point to a hidden room in the western part of the Pathfinder. You will need to visit the bunk room outside the checkpoint with Wheeler, on the left, climb up on the bed on the left and climb through the hole. Kill the bandits and take the weapon.

Enemy Freezing Club

The second item purchased from Gladys will need to be researched on your ship. He will send you to Scylla. Follow the marker to find a club in a building near the abandoned miners' outpost.

A weapon that knocks enemies into the air

This weapon is not displayed for quest objectives. You will find it as part of the Invisible Bugs side quest on Monarch. There are Marauders in the ULD Lab southwest of Stellar Bay. Kill them, use the terminal on the left side of the room and unlock the weapon. You can answer three questions correctly or hack the container.

mind control

You can buy a tooltip for this weapon from Duncan of Fallbrook on Monarch. Sublight data will point you to Cascadia. The weapon you are looking for is located near the terminal, which you will gain access to during the side quest "Space Crime Continuum".

While the full arsenal of science weapons can be tracked using the "weapons from the void" quest line in your journal (which is activated after reading the messages on your ship's terminal in the captain's quarters), the specifics of achieving each goal in this multi-level side mission are not always crystal clear. With that in mind, we've listed all of the available science weapons available in The Outer Worlds below, along with information on where to find them, how to get them, what they do, and whether or not they're worth keeping in your inventory.

Prismatic Hammer

The Outer Worlds-img

The Prismatic Hammer is one of the simplest science weapons. This melee weapon is capable of unleashing powerful energy waves with every hit, perfect for close range attacks as it can deal damage to an entire group of enemies in a single swing. In short, it must be found.

In order to obtain the Hammer, you will need to access the secret engine room on the Pathfinder, which you will find on the west side of the ship and discovered by either breaking open a door located behind several cargo crates or finding a hole in the upper left corner of the crew quarters. From there, you will need to pick the lock through the second door found on the north side of the engine room, and the Prismatic Hammer can be found in the safe on the table inside.

Shrink Ray Blaster

The Outer Worlds-img

This blaster is unfortunately useless as a long-term weapon for your space exploits, as targets only shrink for as long as you hold the trigger, which itself deals minimal damage over time. However, this is definitely a novelty worth having in your inventory whenever you want to shrink a particular tough enemy or benevolent NPC down to size, so here's what you need to do to get it.

The logs in the Hopeless terminal that activate this weapon from the Void Quest will immediately tell you the location shrink ray, which is safely hidden in Phineas Wells' orbital laboratory. You can head to the lab once you find the power regulator for your ship on Terra 2. Approach Phineas and you will see that the blaster is clearly positioned on the table in front of him.

Freezing Club Mandibular Rearranger

The Outer Worlds-img

The second, but much less memorable melee weapon in the Outer Worlds' arsenal of scientific weapons is regrouper; A reinforced club that deals freezing damage to targets, slowing them to a point of complete stagnation with each hit. To be honest, the club has nothing to do with the Prismatic Hammer's wide area of effect and high damage capability, but it can be useful as a crowd control tool, keeping high level enemies at bay while you take out any additional targets.

In order to obtain this weapon, you will need to purchase a quest item identified as datapad at Glacis on Hopeless, at which point your journal will take you to Scylla Mining Outpost, a large asteroid that you can travel to once you leave Terra 2. You will need to follow your waypoint to one of the outpost buildings, and the club is in the safe on the floor, the first one you'll see once you open the doors.

Beam Weapon Mind Control Ray

The Outer Worlds-img

The Outer Worlds mind control beam, like the Shrink Ray Blaster, lives up to its namesake, causing anyone caught in its crossfire to attack their allies. However, unlike the Shrink Ray, the damage dealt by this weapon is significant, making it just as good as a standard firearm as it is a fun way to pit enemies against each other. Sure, it makes an annoying ringing sound when your finger is on the trigger, but that's a small price to pay for the chaos that this nifty piece of technology can unleash.

In order to find this weapon, you will need to buy a tooltip pointing to this weapon from Duncan of Fallbrook on Monarch. Sublight data will point you to Cascadia. You will naturally acquire a navigation key that will allow your ship to travel to the city of Stellar Bay on that planet during campaign events, and Duncan's shop is to the right of the main row of Fallbrook shops as you enter. Purchase this datapad and your waypoint will highlight an abandoned lab in the nearby wight-infested city of Cascadia, at which point you'll find a Mind Control Beam lying on a table in the last room.

Submachine gun Gloop Gun

The Outer Worlds-img

This cannon shoots out a special radioactive cloud, the spray effect of which both shocks and damages those caught in the crossfire, while at the same time lifting them into the air for a short period of time. It's one of the most powerful weapons in the game, and great for getting some colorful and epic mid-air kills through The Outer Worlds tactical time dilation mechanic, so you'll want to get your hands on it.

You will find it as part of the Invisible Bugs side quest on Monarch. Your waypoint will show you the location of the weapon at a nearby research facility on the same planet. Fight your way into the building, enter the dedicated terminal to unlock access to the Gloop pistol chambers, and this powerful hand cannon will be yours.
