The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon - Everything You Need to Know
New mystery and intrigue for the Hopeless team in Peril on Gorgon, the first DLC pack for Obsidian's stellar RPG, The Outer Worlds.
Obsidian Supplement The Outer Worlds , Peril on gorgon already available. First announced at the Xbox Games Showcase, Peril on gorgon includes a brand new environment to explore, new shady and intriguing characters, new weapons and armor, and a quest that will build on the base game's existing narrative.
In a DLC mission, the player and crew of the Hopeless encounter a severed hand and a cryptic message pointing to the asteroid Gorgon. Never shying away from a shady corporate conspiracy, the Hero heads for the infamous asteroid. From there, they are given a quest by a woman named Minnie Ambrose to uncover the mystery surrounding a science project that has failed miserably.
Setting
Asteroid Gorgon was once a former scientific outpost that was primarily owned by the Spacers Choice Corporation. It was eventually abandoned after a series of disastrous experiments were carried out. The research labs are now largely in ruins, taken over by marauders and alien monsters. It also pioneered the creation of Adrena Time, an in-game consumable item that gives the player character the ability to slow down time in combat. This may mean that we will learn more about the origin of the mysterious drug.
Danger on the Gorgon will become available after players complete the main story quest on planet Monarch, meaning you won't have to play through the entire game to explore this new area. Gorgon was said to feature a playable area more or less larger than Monarch, the largest explorable environment in the main game. The expansion is said to include a new narrative to the overall experience of the game, though how this will relate to the Hero and his mission to save the Halcyone colony remains to be seen.
Gameplay
Obsidian has also released a gameplay video showing the side quest. The quest forces players to make morally ambiguous choices that help determine the fate of the Gorgon survivors. The video also gave us a look at a brand new scientific weapon called the Pest Killer Tool, or PET, a melee weapon that can bring enemies into melee range for you to then dice them up with. It was mentioned in the Demo that if desired, the unique asteroid flora can also be used for stealth gameplay. Another new addition that comes as a DLC is the Audio Recordings, where we can hear the voice recordings of the characters that complete the story of what happened on this Asteroid colony.
Players will have to be careful who they trust in this adventure, using all their skills, diplomacy and wits to navigate this intriguing and hostile place. Or, if you prefer a psycho path, you can always just shoot everyone you meet.
Peril on gorgon - just one of two planned DLCs as part of the expansion The Outer Worlds . This first expansion releases today September 9th for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
