The Tonight Show, starring Jimmy Fallon, enters the metaverse Fortnite sponsored by Samsung.
Fallon recently announced that his talk show will be part of an interactive battle royale gaming experience called Tonight at the Rock on the base Samsung Galaxy. The crossover will launch on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
Fallon featured in the episode The Tonight Show:
“Something very exciting happens on Wednesday night. We're bringing The Tonight Show to Fortnite!"
He continued:
"Correctly! We are teaming up with Samsung to make this happen. It's called Tonight at The Rock based on the Samsung Galaxy. It's a gaming experience that you can play in Fortnite."
The collaborative map/level is based on the iconic Rockefeller studio where recorded by The Tonight Show. Players can explore the building and its surroundings, which include the Writer's Room and the Samsung Store. The experience will also feature mini-games and a new currency called Falloncoins.
Fallon described the event as follows:
“Now we've recreated everything - Rockefeller Center, the 30 Rock building, our offices, every little detail of this studio, it's like you're right there. The attention to detail is pretty mind-blowing."
He then gave some insight into the gameplay:
“You can explore the area, there are all these mini games you can play, games we play on The Tonight Show and games we made just for Fortnite with the Samsung Galaxy Powerboost. This is really cool, we are very excited about it. Call all your friends... tune in for the Wednesday night show."
Janet Lee, senior vice president of mobile experience at Samsung Electronics America, said in a statement:
“At Samsung, we are always looking for opportunities to give users a one-of-a-kind experience with their Galaxy devices. Tonight at Rock, fans will experience a unique social adventure right in the heart of 30 Rock, enhanced by Samsung's in-game power-ups made possible by the Galaxy ecosystem."
