The Witcher 3: How to Complete the Magic Lamp Side Quest
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt re-release brings a return and new players looking to re-experience the classic. One such returning quest is The Magic Lamp, in which Keira Metz and Geralt search for an unusual magic lamp promised to Keira by an elven mage who lives in a cave nearby.
This quest must be completed before proceeding to the Isle of Mists. Otherwise, it will be marked as failed.
Walkthrough of the quest "Magic Lamp" in Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
This quest is located in the Bog, Velen. Note that this quest is completely optional.
So, during the search of the elf's hideout, Keira remembers about the magic lamp, which he was supposed to give her in return for the potion and help in finding the gray-haired girl. If Geralt agrees, then they go in search of him.
The search leads them to a room with four statues, where in order to go further it was necessary to solve a riddle.
From now on, Keira and Geralt will work together to translate the inscription into the Speech of the Elders, which they will find on the magically locked door leading outside. The duo determine that the inscription is actually a puzzle that must be solved before they can continue. This is a very simple puzzle, although some players may overthink it due to its deceptively simple nature. Here is the riddle in its entirety:
Four guards carried a clear flame, all in one row.The first one didn't go off the rails. The second, who walked next to the first, played a sad song. The third walked next to his faithful beast. The fourth did not walk next to the first, but played music, like the secondAnd so they guarded their queen that she fell asleep under the stars.
The directions of the puzzle are quite specific and hard to misinterpret, however if one messes up the sequence, 2 to 4 ghosts will appear and attack the player. After solving the puzzle and lighting the flames in the correct order, the sealed door will open to the next area where you can start collecting the coveted loot.
In Search of the Magic Lamp and Other Treasures
After going through the previously locked door, Geralt and Kira will find the elven magician's office. Use your witcher senses here to explore and find the magic lamp the sorceress desires, which should be very easy since you don't even need heightened perception to see the object of interest, despite the game's insistence to the contrary.
After finding the lamp, Keira will pick it up and comment on its mysterious nature. At this point, the player can retreat and leave the cave, completing the quest. However, there is more loot to be found if you look around the Elven Mage's exploration, which has several rocky ledges that you can climb to find a treasure, a place of power, and a golem to destroy.
Taking Golem Out
Golems are essentially weaker versions of elementals; this means that they act and look very similar, but do not have magical attacks. They hit very hard and their hard hits can't be parried, though all of his attacks are easy to dodge. They are also quite resilient, so it will take quite a few hits to send them out. Make sure to prioritize dodging over spamming with scythes, as even one hit can seriously hurt Geralt if you get careless and impatient.
There are several ways to make this fight less dangerous, as well as some tactics that can allow witchers to quickly drop this devastating enemy. For defense, it is recommended to always have the Quen shield up, as this will prevent the golem from successfully hitting the player and dealing damage. The only attack that tends to be annoying is the golem's slam into the ground, which releases an area of circle damage effect around the golem's body. The best way to avoid this is to roll away from the monster when it ends.
On the offensive, the obvious choice is to coat the sword with Elementa oil. The improved version is ideal, as usual for oils, although any level of substance here will be useful. Stacking Elemental Oil Effects with the Damage Boost provided by the Always Beneficial Potion Thunderbolt, will help to destroy the golem's health bar even more. Combining these two effects with a fairly upgraded Whirl attack can also allow the player to repeatedly stagger the golem (if it has enough stamina), essentially stunning the artificial abomination for trivial combat.
Find the last of the loot and complete the quest
After fighting the golem, check the area for all the loot and then blast the suspicious looking door with Aardto find another small, hidden loot area. Once all robberies are completed, nothing more can be expected from this cave. Go back to the entrance and speak to Keira once outdoors to complete this quest and unlock the next one in Keira Metz's questline "An Invitation from Keira Metz", where Geralt can help the sorceress a little more and possibly recruit her into his business of fighting Wild Hunt.
