As many Shadowlands players enter Torghast next week to mine Soul Ash and levels 4 to 6 unlock, we've compiled all the information you might need to master Torghast, the Tower of the Damned from Shadowlands.
Torghast, Tower of the Damned is a new dungeon from Shadowlands that changes every time players enter it. The floors of the tower are randomly generated and contain different enemies, friendly NPCs, and objectives, so each tower entry is unique.
Players usually go to Torghast for Soul Ash, a special currency that is required to craft legendary items from the Shadowlands. Torghast's Twisting Corridors (aka Endless Mode) yields a special currency that can be exchanged for cosmetic items.
You can enter Torghast as many times as you like, but you will receive rewards for completing each level once a week.
How to unlock access to Torghast and get into it
To gain access to Torghast, the Tower of the Damned, you need to complete the introductory quest chain in the Maw and meet Ve'nari.
After that, the tower will be available to all characters on the account. You will see a portal to the tower in Ve'nari's Refuge.

Each floor of Torghast (including monsters, traps, and optional objectives) is randomly generated.
The first floors look quite primitive, and you can navigate them without much difficulty. The higher floors are like labyrinths with loops and dead ends, making it difficult to find the way upstairs.
Also, at each exit there is a guard who must be defeated in order to go further. Guardians are affected by a buff called Influence of the Jailer.
Every third floor is a recreation area, every sixth floor is a boss.
Recreation areas
Recreation areas are available on every third floor of the tower. In recreation areas, you can exchange phantasm for goods from merchants.
The assortment of goods is determined for the most part randomly, it always contains 2 Cage with stolen anima for 150 units Phantasms and 1 Hungry Anima Cage for 250 units fantasies.
Recreation areas also have tortured souls and anima cages that can be collected.
In the recreation area (next to friendly agents) you can change the specialization, equipment and abilities of the covenants.
Boss Zones
There is always a boss at the end of the sixth floor that must be defeated to complete the run. Before the boss fight, you can exchange the remaining phantasm for goods with merchants.
Bosses drop equipment, Soul Ashes, and recipes for crafting legendary items.
Rats from the Womb
Maw Rats are low health monsters that can be killed for additional effects. Some anima powers explode rats or restore health to the character when they die.
Grouping. Modes and difficulty levels
If you're having trouble in Torghast, you can find the group. In general, you'll get more Anima Power, and staying inside will be less nerve-wracking, as you'll have party mates to help you out.
When grouping in Torghast:
Mob scaling has been reduced for 4 and 5 player groups.
➤Each player can choose their own Anima Power when it drops. This increases the chance that someone in your group will receive powerful Powers. Anima , such as 300
➤Only one person needs to buy for a group « trophy cell anima" и « Predatory Anima Cell ». That person could be someone who has an excess Phantasms , or a player who does not have an Anima Power they want to buy from a vendor.
➤Most mobs can only attack one target at a time - this makes the task in a group even easier!
➤There are more useful options in the group such as interrupts, purges, stuns and other CCs that are useful for many elite and rare bosses!
You will need a little more coordination in a group, like sticking together, but overall you should benefit from being in a group!
Soul Shards
While exploring Torghast, you will notice Soul Shards, usually chained to the floor or in cages. Releasing these souls gives you Blessing of the Soul Shard , accumulating a 1% buff from the primary stat.
This buff builds up very quickly, and if you release each soul, you'll get ~15% or more bonuses to your primary stats! If you've been missing out on those Soul Shards, by the time you fight the boss, you're missing out on a lot of basic stats!
Change of talents and equipment
Chains of the Jailer is an effect that prevents players from changing equipment, talents, and specializations in Torghast.
Changes are possible only next to the merchants, on every third and sixth floor.
The area where you can change equipment, talents and specialization is a small dome and is called Sanctuary of the Damned. In this area, the negative effects of the tower, including Chains of the Jailer, turn off.
Upgrades sold by the Ve'nari
Ven'nari sells several permanent Torghast upgrades for Stygia once you've gained a certain amount of reputation with her. These Torghast upgrades are also account-wide!
While they don't guarantee an easier launch, some of them reduce the RNG of Anima Powers by offering higher quality Anima Powers from vendors or by making higher quality Anima Powers more available.

Death and Tarragr
Players can roam the tower as much as they like. No key is required to enter and you can go through the floors again and again. However, each run is limited by the number of deaths that is calculated per group. The dead player is resurrected at the beginning of the floor.
1 player: 5 deaths
2 players: 8 deaths
3 players: 10 deaths
4 players: 13 deaths
5 players: 15 deaths
Upon reaching the death limit, players must exit the floor within 30 seconds. Otherwise, an incredibly strong monster named Tarragr appears on the floor, chasing the group and preventing them from going to the next floor.
Tasks
Climbing to the top of the tower comes down to performing various tasks - killing opponents, destroying phylacteries, collecting phantasm and exchanging currency for anima powers that expand the character's abilities.
Also in the tower there are tasks, puzzles, rare monsters and chests that give additional anima powers. They are not mandatory, but in the fight against especially large monsters, anima powers are never superfluous.
phylacteries
Phylacteries are active objects that can be destroyed by right-clicking on them or casting a spell on them. The phylacteries contain cells of anima and phantasm.
Tortured souls
Tortured Souls are found throughout Torghast. You can free them or take their equipment (for level 3 and above).
Souls are of three types: lost, tormented and angry.
When freeing any soul, the player gains Blessing of Soul Remains, which increases primary stat by 1%, stacks and persists after death.
Taking equipment from the soul grants the player the Obleron Equipment effect, which increases outgoing damage and healing, as well as maximum health and secondary stats by a certain percentage. The effect lasts for 3 minutes and stacks up to 5 times.
In other words, players have to constantly search for souls and refresh the effect every 3 minutes.
Extraplanar Pockets, purchased from Ve'nari, increase the maximum number of Obleron Equipment charges to 6.
Additional tasks
Covenant representatives are sometimes found on the floors of the tower. Their presence is usually signaled by the Soul Carver. Representatives of the covenants give players tasks - for example, to defeat a dangerous enemy or find a lost ally.
As a reward for these tasks, players receive cages with anima.
liberated souls
Unleashed Souls is a currency that can be used to strengthen your covenant.
Rare elite monsters
From time to time, rare elite monsters are found on the floors of the tower, for defeating which cells with anima rely.
clock towers
On some floors of the tower, there are strong sentries that apply the Overwhelming Aura effect to players, reducing speed and movement speed by 25%. To get rid of the effect, you need to kill the sentry.
Rune-sealed vaults
To open the vault sealed with runes in Torghast, you need to collect the same runes above them (see screenshot). Clicking on a skull changes runes on nearby skulls. The vaults contain cells with anima.
Chests with lever locks
From time to time, chests with lever locks come across in Torghast. To open them, you need to move the levers until you find the right combination. Chests contain cages with anima.
Other closed chests
To open a chest with a regular lock, you need to find the key on the floor or pull the lever, which is located on the same floor.
Currency in Torghast
Torghast's main currency is Phantasm, which can be exchanged for various items and Soul Ash, which is needed to craft legendary items.
Fantasma
Fantasma is a currency from the Torghast Tower, which is obtained by killing monsters and destroying objects. Phantasma can be exchanged for consumable items and temporary/permanent upgrades at merchants in the rest areas and boss floors.
Outside of Torghast, Phantasm has nothing to spend on, when you exit the tower, all the accumulated currency disappears, and we recommend spending it immediately.
The assortment of goods from merchants is constantly changing. As a rule, these are anima powers, healing effects and temporary buffs that act during one entry into the dungeon.
Soul Ashes
Soul Ash is a currency required to craft legendary items. It can be obtained from reliquaries located throughout Torghast. The higher the level of the legendary item, the more ash is required to craft it.
Checking DPS with Unnatural Force
Once you get to level 3 or above, you will start facing DPS checks unnatural strength . One stack of buff will be applied every ~10 seconds while fighting any Elite, Rare, or Boss creature, making these 3 creature types a serious damage check!
This buff will accumulate after 10, but after 10 stacks this mob will also become immune to CC. So after about 1 minute 35 seconds the mobs will deal 100%+ bonus damage! Kill them before they kill you. Be careful when approaching any of them, as you should plan on using cooldowns to ensure they die before the buff " unnatural strength» will get out of control. Don't forget consumables like drums of deadly fury , flasks and potions!
Remember that there are no timers in Torghast other than random damage from mobs or ticking damage which will come from some Torment in Torghast . Thus, if you need to wait for recovery, you can! If after all these tips you're still having trouble with a certain creature or boss, you might want to start over and hope for better Anima Powers, a different layout, a different boss, or maybe you want to try and get more gear. before trying again.
