Third Teaser Fortnite Season 9

The third teaser for Fortnite Battle Royale Season 9 has finally been released, and players around the world are already tearing it apart to find some hidden clues that could have been included by Epic Games.

Today, May 8, 2019, which is the last day of the eighth season, the third and final teaser is expected to be the biggest clue of what fans can expect when the v9.00 patch goes live on PC, PS4, Xbox One , Nintendo Switch and mobile phones on May 9th.

The release for teaser image number three was released at 15:00 BST (10:00 EDT, 07:00 PDT) on May 8, and it didn't take long for fans to realize that it included the letter "O" - meaning that the three images are united by the "NEO" spell.

For those of you who expected to see "NEW" written on it, remember that "neo" is actually a way of saying "new" and Google Dictionary even describes it as "a new or revived form" of something.

The Twitter caption for this image is "New Future" and the symbol displayed at the top of the "O" seems to be in keeping with the futuristic theme. The purple character even seems to be showing some sort of card in his hand, though we're not entirely sure about that.

What do we know about Season 9?

Before the teaser on May 8, the developers shared two main clues with fans. The first teaser, released on May 6, was accompanied by the caption "The Future Is Unknown."

A blue image of a futuristic-looking male character (with a rather cyborg feel to him) was pinned to the Twitter post, with a large "N" taking up most of the background:

The second teaser image for Season 9 was released on May 7th. This time, the headline was nearly identical, stating "The future is bright."

The image showed a similar futuristic look to the character - perhaps a Marine or an astronaut - over a pink "E", leading many fans to speculate that the game's developers had begun spelling out a certain word or clue.

Considering the capital letters "Unknown" and "Bright" in the Twitter posts, one of our theories was that they are also specific clues to the names of the characters that have been shown in the images so far. However, the "New" tooltip makes us think they might have something to do with points of interest on a potentially updated map in areas such as the Abandoned Towers, which were recently destroyed.

Will we get a new map for Season 9?

Many believed that the last word would be "NEW", as it would be in line with the idea of ​​the future. With the recent destruction of various landmarks following a volcanic eruption, some players are even starting to speculate that we'll be getting a brand new map!

With the third and final teaser ending up writing "NEO" instead of "NEW", we're still pretty sure SOMETHING will be revisited and the "Tilted" hint will only add to it. It's easy to see why there's a huge amount of anticipation added to tomorrow's Season 9 update on May 9th.

Following the release of the teaser, Epic creative director Donald Mustard made another cryptic Twitter post, saying, "From the ashes, rise." If the fans don't get completely refurbished Abandoned Towers, at least we'll be shocked!

If an entirely new map does appear, the Season 9 patch will be the biggest and possibly the most controversial in the history of the game.

What do we know about the Season 9 Battle Pass?

Expect the 9th season pass ticket to cost roughly the same as previous seasons, so somewhere in the 950 bucks (~$10) range.

The Battle Pass gives you the chance to unlock a range of exclusive skins, emotes, and other cosmetic items as you progress through the levels. Skins hinted at in the teaser images are almost guaranteed to be included.

You'll also get the chance to complete the Battle Pass Challenges and, if previous seasons pass, unlock the mystery skin through a series of bonus challenges. It has been a pass staple for a number of seasons, the latest of which appeared in the form of the Explorer's Challenge season 8.
