After a long 27 month wait, Epic Games has officially announced the release date March 22 2023 of the year for Unreal Editor Fortnite.
In an announcement posted on the official account Fortnite Creative on Twitter, players were encouraged to add the editor to their Epic Games Store wishlist ahead of its release next week. A screenshot taken from the editor was posted hours before the opening, giving us our first official look at the future of Fortnite.
A visit to the "Unreal Editor for Fortnite" page on the Epic Games Store confirms that this will be a separate program from the game itself, classified as an add-on. Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) is a new PC application for designing, developing and publishing games and experiences directly in Fortnite. With Unreal Engine 5's many powerful tools and workflows, including Custom Asset Import, Modeling, Materials and VFX, Sequencer and Control Rig, you'll have a whole new world of possibilities for creating and publishing Fortnite games and experiences that millions of players can enjoy.
UEFN works side-by-side with Fortnite Creative's existing toolbox, and creator teams can work together on PC and console to develop and test islands in real time.
Also included is the new Verse programming language. It offers powerful customization options such as device manipulation or linking and the ability to easily create new game logic.”
The editor will allow players to create user interfaces inside Fortnite without the limitations of the existing creative mode. Over time, games built with UEFN will take Fortnite to new heights of popularity, putting it in direct competition with "Roblox».
