An Overwatch 2 leaker with a very accurate track record claims that Mauga will be Season 2's newest tank hero.
First season Overwatch 2 is still ongoing, but we've already received a major leak about the identity of the next character to join the roster for Season 2 in December.
Redditor "OW2leaks4u" has an impressive history of leaks, including the revelation that Kiriko was the long-awaited "hero fox" long before she was officially announced.
Now, the whistleblower has broken his silence again and shared even more information about what fans can expect from Season 2 - and it's in line with what game director Aaron Keller teased earlier.
Mauga could be the next tank hero in Overwatch 2
In a Reddit post, OW2leaks4u was asked if they had any information on the next hero - and they answered very cheeky.
"My aunt's uncle got arthritis," they said, adding a scowl. Although at first glance this may seem like a lack of an answer, if you take the first letter of each word, it reads MAUGA.
Mauga was a very popular character in the Overwatch world, despite only being featured in comics and short stories. He is also related to Baptiste, a support hero added in the middle of the original OW.
This is not the first allusion related to Mauga. During the OWL broadcast, Aaron Keller let it slip that the new hero was male and someone fans had "seen before".
In addition, Keller said that the new card coming in Season 2 will be related to the upcoming hero.
As for what the map is, art director Dion Rogers said that the map King of the Hill may appear "earlier than expected". This suggests that Mauga can get his own card. KOTHwhen season 2 starts.
Of course, regardless of the identity of the new hero, players will need to purchase the Season 2 Battle Pass to play it immediately, or complete quests to unlock the character.
Expect more details on the next hero and map in the coming weeks, especially with a big balance patch looming ahead for Season 2, which could include changes meant to bring Maugi into the roster.
