Final Fantasy XIV will have VR support!

I am a fan of VR technology, but so far it is more likely to be watched from the outside. I'm looking forward to a real VRMMORPG, and I regard this Zenith as a milestone for the genre. I do not hide, however, that I was surprised by the information about Final Fantasy XIV, although after read the message I started guessing the app (RP fans, especially ERP fans, will be delighted). What is going on anyway?

Fans of Final Fantasy XIV are creating a mod that will allow you to play this MMORPG using virtual reality. The VR mod will be released in alpha soon and will allow you to play in first or third person perspective. The first option is quite experimental and the creator himself indicates that the third-person view is targeted.

The modification itself changes the interface of Final Fantasy XIV in accordance with virtual reality. You can fight, complete tasks, but there is no full mouse and keyboard support yet. This can be problematic because FFXIV uses a lot of buttons and VR controllers don't provide that many. Therefore, for now, it is worth considering slightly problematic controls - the correct assignment of buttons solves most problems, especially for people with a notepad.

Of course, a VR mod will require good hardware. The RTX 3070 graphics card is already recommended for running the game at 90fps, which should avoid motion sickness. To run the modification, you also need to get the FFXIV Quick Launcher and install the appropriate plugin.

Also note that all of this theoretically violates Terms of Service, i.e. Final Fantasy XIV rules. VR mod interferes with the game and changes it, which is not officially approved by Square Enix. THEREFORE, YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
