Valorant 1.01: Update Description
Valorant's 1.01 patch, released on June 9th, hit Sage, making some changes to Spike Rush and also sorting out some of the teething issues that players were experiencing in the early days.
Release Valorant was welcomed with open arms on June 2 when Riot Games moved from beta to a full-fledged title with a host of changes including an all-new map, an eleventh agent, and the Battle Pass system.
While the 1.0 patch also brought redundant Agent changes, frame rate fixes, and a welcome change to Split from the beta, the opening week was still a hectic one, with many minor bugs throughout the week.
GAMEPLAY AND BALANCE
SAGE
- ♦Cast Range "Spheres of the Barrier" reduced from 20 to 10 meters.
- ♦ Sage plays the role of a guardian, which means that she must act as efficiently as possible while defending an already captured territory. The 20m cast range allowed her to aggressively seize control of no man's land, which was inconsistent with her role in Valorant. The cast range reduction should reduce Sage's effectiveness in capturing new zones without significantly affecting her strength.

SPIKE QUICK INSTALL CHANGES
- ♦There will now be 5 randomly selected orbs in each match of "Quick Spike".

- ♦ The remaining 4 types of spheres will be randomly selected from the 7 available.
- ♦The selected types of spheres will be displayed in the information field of the interface during character selection and before each round.
New types of spheres
- ♦Health Orb: Instantly starts restoring the health of the entire team.
- ♦ Effect lasts 20 seconds.
- ♦ Restores 12 health per second (3 health per tick).
- ♦Sound and visual effects will only play if the player recovers health.
- ♦Orb of Subterfuge: Inflicts Paranoia on all enemies 3 seconds after acquiring the Orb.
- ♦Debuff lasts 10 seconds.
- ♦The viewing range drops significantly (and the field of view also changes slightly).
- ♦ Players affected by the effect hear fake sounds of footsteps and gunfire.
- ♦Disables the mini-map.
- ♦Gold Weapon: Grants the capturing player a golden weapon.
- ♥Gold weapon kills with one shot.
- ♦Always shoots with maximum accuracy.
- ♦The agent moves at the same speed as if the knife was selected.
- ♦ The weapon has one cartridge in the magazine and two spare cartridges.

Common
- ♦A new UI element has been added that shows weapons and possible types of orbs at the start of each round.
- ♦Players now gain 1 ultimate for any orb they pick up.
PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS
In this patch, the main focus of work was to increase the speed during the battle and the overall performance of the game on powerful computers. Now in battles, frame transitions will become even smoother, and depending on the power of your device, you will also be able to see frame rate increase in various situations.
- ♦Combat performance: We've fixed a number of issues that were causing framerate drops in combat.
- ♦For 9 out of 10 players skins were not loaded in advance before the match. As a result, the first time you encountered a character using this skin during a match, the framerate would drop.
- ♦Fixed frame rate drops that occurred when the kill message appears or disappears.
- ♦Improved the performance of special UI elements viper.
- ♦+FPS on medium and powerful PCs: we were able to address a number of performance bottlenecks related to insufficient processor performance. It can also improve the performance of the game on less powerful devices, but the changes will only be noticeable during combat.
- ♦Added support for multi-threaded rendering for powerful devices. If your device meets the requirements for multi-threaded rendering to work, then in your graphics quality settings menu there will be an option to enable / disable this feature. On powerful devices, the feature is enabled by default.
- ♦Multi-threaded rendering improves performance when the power required to keep objects rendering is greater than the power needed to fully render the scene with the graphics card. Most often this happens when moving through locations with a lot of visible objects (such as the attack base on the Split map), and also when the simulation of the game is not expensive (for example, in a shooting range, out of combat, etc.).
- ♦Multi-threaded FOVs: Fields of view displayed on the minimap will be calculated using a separate thread whenever possible.
- ♦ Significantly improved visual effects on all maps, which should reduce the demands on the processor power of the game due to more active particle simulation using graphics card resources.
- ♦Reworked client performance statistics to include more detailed frame period information.
GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS
- ♦ "Recon" Sova will act more predictably and detect only some of the enemies through the wall.
- ♦Added a setting that allows you to constantly show equipment.
- ♦ Markers will no longer appear on allies and enemies when they mark a point behind them.
- ♦The exit screen now shows the map where the last match was played, instead of Brimstone and Sage entering the teleport.
- ♦Changing characters at the shooting range now uses a simpler and more productive interface compared to the one used during the start of the match.
- ♦ Now the tasks on the end of the match screen are sorted by type and stage of completion.
- ♦Slightly changed the appearance of the interface elements of contracts and battle pass at the top of the screen.
FIXES
- ♦Fixed an issue where translucent particles, such as layers of smoke, could be visible when affected by the vision restriction effect that Queen.
- ♦Fixed visual effects that blocked the screen Queen in cases where she aimed while regenerating health.
- ♦When overhealing is maxed out, health bar Queen no longer equals 151.
- ♦Camera Cypher will no longer broadcast a picture from the ground if they are placed on the gate frame on the Bind map.
- ♦Cypher can no longer block the Teleport Gate on Bind from closing with Cyber Cell.
- ♦ Reconnaissance Ranges Owl and "evil gaze" Queen will now only appear on the enemy mini-map when the player or their allies are close to the area of effect of these skills.
