Valorant Announces Launch of $200 Twitch Rivals Tournament
Riot Games has announced that they will be hosting a global Valorant launch event where the best content creators from each region will compete for a $200 prize pool.
Valorant's closed beta is finally coming to an end after hitting a record high on Twitch for the first time; with hundreds of thousands of players hoping to get access to the new title.
While fans of the character-based tactical shooter will now have to wait a bit before its official release on June 2nd, Riot has announced some of its big plans to celebrate the official weekend.
Riot Games announced that they will once again partner with Twitch Rivals to host a global event to showcase their new release on their "Gala Weekend", featuring many of the top streamers and creators from each region.
They also shared that these "first competitive competitions" will provide a massive $200 prize pool as well as the glory of hosting the first official Valorant tournament win for all the stars participating in the tournament.
"The award is a $200 prize pool and the right to be considered one of the world's first VALORANT champions," they said.
To celebrate launch, we're teaming with competitive FPS creators to hold a global tournament and crown 1 winning team from each region. Up for grabs is a $200,000 prize pool and the right to count themselves among the first global VALORANT champs. https://t.co/8KTOqeVsck

The upcoming Valorant event, which has been dubbed the "Valorant Launch Showdown", should kick off the Twitch Summer Game Festival with a bang as it will feature creators from all over the world.
“These events will cover the whole world and will feature some of your favorite authors from North America, Brazil, LATAM, Europe, Korea and Japan,” they explained, listing all the major regions.
While it's still unclear how the tournaments will be formatted and which stars will compete in these events, it's likely that Riot will share more details once things get underway.
The tournament is expected to run from June 5th to 7th, as the event is set to take place on the first weekend, giving Valorant fans something else to look forward to with the game's launch.
