Riot Games is starting the year with a bang, with the launch of Episode 8 of Valorant in just a few days. The new 8.0 update promises to bring a ton of new content, including agent changes, brand new weapons, and plenty of adjustments to the maps in the season's rotation. Two maps in particular, Icebox and Lotus, have undergone a lot of changes to remain interesting and more balanced to play. In this article we will look at all the changes happening to the Lotus map in patch 8.0, with GIFs to better understand the changes.
Changes at points:
Changes at point A:
Closed cube A to make the plant site more readable and easier to retake. Added a die on the back of A to give defenders more options when holding a site.
More space has been added near the breakable door. It should now be easier to fight from inside the connector room.
More space has been added to A Main along with a set of crates to give defenders more options when fighting for control of A Rubble.
Changed the double stack of crates on the outside of A Stairs to be impenetrable to reduce the chance of spam.
Changes at point B:
More space and crates have been added to B Site to provide more defense closer to the site's narrow passage.
Revolving doors now take 10 seconds to complete a full rotation, instead of the previous 8. This will increase the time it takes to use utilities through doors and fight through them.
Increased the full rotation time of revolving doors from 8 seconds to 10 seconds.
Changes at point C:
The Spike installation area and stairs in C Bend have been adjusted to provide more variety in the Spike installation locations in the C Site.
The drawers at the back of the site have been adjusted.
More space and drawers have been added to the C Main to also provide more defensive capability closer to the front of the Main.
Added crates to C Bend along with additional fighting space.
That's everything you need to know about the new changes to the Lotus map in Episode 8 of Valorant. Many of these adjustments are aimed at creating greater opportunities for defenders to hold points, reducing the large imbalance in the map's win statistics.
