Everything You Need to Know About Final Fantasy in 2021

Final Fantasy is a series that refuses to have a final chapter, and 2021 is going to be a massive year for the franchise.

This year Square Enix will attract a lot attention . Not that it's going to be limited to them, but with the Japanese company gearing up for big releases in the next 12 months, it's safe to say there will be a lot more of them than usual. In addition to new titles in NieR franchises и Bravely Default , they will also publish the exciting new platformer Yuuji Naka, Balan wonderworld . However, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

There will be at least two new releases in 2021 final Fantasy. There are also rumors of a new game Chocobo Racing or at least some sort of re-release of the 1999 original. Compared to similar Final Fantasy VII Remake and the upcoming 16th installment in the series, it might not sound too exciting; but that's one more thing we can expect from the Final Fantasy franchise in 2021.

Final Fantasy XVI

If last September the news that a new Final Fantasy game for PS5 was currently in the works was no longer shocking to us, then the fact that it should appear until the end of 2021, was an absolute bomb. We were even treated to a playable trailer; and this isn't one of those Ubisoft or CD Project "gameplay" trailers. It turned out to be a true look at the game.

Having spent most of the last few decades exploring the future, Final Fantasy XVI will see the series return to its medieval roots. The game takes place in the fantasy world of Valistea. Players will join a new main character named Clive  who goes in search of saving the world from a great evil. At least, we assume that he will do so.

Summons will also be included in the game, although like some of the ones present in Final Fantasy XIV they will be called Akonami . We've already got a glimpse of Shiva, Titan, Phoenix, and Ifrit, and can expect characters like Bahamut and Leviathan to appear in some capacity as well. New information about the game continues to appear on a fairly regular basis, so be sure to listen to the words in the coming months if you want to know more.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Final Fantasy VII Remake

After the overwhelming success Final Fantasy VII Remake many fans are now turning their attention to the game's second act. Unfortunately, there is very little news regarding the next part of the remake at the moment. We know the team has been working on this since late 2019, but so far no real indication has been given as to when we can expect it to arrive.

However, with the anniversary of the first game's release approaching, there's a good chance we'll see the release of the first game on Xbox One and PC soon. Most exclusivity deals typically last 12 months, and while neither Square Enix nor Sony have confirmed that this is the case with the remake, it would be a little surprising if it wasn't.

Many people also assume that we will see next-gen ports of the game, or at least a PS5 release. While the game is already playable on the console, it is currently locked at 30fps, which means most of the console's power is left on the table. The lack of a PS5 patch could certainly mean the developers have more than just a patch in store, but we'll have to wait and see.

Final Fantasy XIV

As announced last October, Square Enix will host special event Announcement Showcase 6 February, where the next extension is expected to finally be announced for Final Fantasy XIV . No one knows how much new information the presentation will contain, although it is unlikely that we will have to too long wait for a new expansion after the announcement.

All of the first four expansions to the game were released during the summer months; with a new release every second year since 2013 With Shadowbringers ending in 2019, chances are that fifth extension will arrive at period from June to August this year. Of course, given the impact that today's pandemic continues to have on the industry, it's entirely possible that things could be a little behind schedule.
