All Fortnite Season 9 Map Changes - New Towers, Hypermarket, etc.

Fortnite

Season 9 of Fortnite has finally arrived, and as usual, the season's new theme has brought with it some major changes to the map, including the rebirth of two fan favorites.

Previous seasons of Fortnite Battle Royale have made drastic changes to the map, including a snowy biome that remains in the southwest and a desert area that still stands in the southeast.

However, Fortnite Season 9 updated the map in a different way. The Abandoned Towers and Outlet, which were ravaged in the "obscene" event that took place on May 4th, have been re-introduced as New Towers and Giant Hypermarket - the Towers now have a new way to get around them from the inside.

EPIC GAMES

The New Towers are a futuristic take on a classic landmark.

Unlike Season 8, there are no "new" additional locations as we saw with Lazy Lagoons and Sunny Steps, although the Trading Point and Abandoned Towers have been reimagined. Both the New Towers and the Giant Hypermarket took the places of their predecessors without moving an inch on the map.

В liner notes for season 9 it is said that the locations "came into being after the destruction of the volcano", and due to the fact that the volcano blew up its top, it was also changed to the "Heat Pipes" location.

New Towers

The New Towers have taken over all the land of the original Abandoned Towers.

There are also plenty of new "air tubes" around the area - now a new way to move around the map, similar to how geysers were introduced in Season 8.

Giant hypermarket

The land that was left of the Outlet after the destruction of the volcano has been dug up and turned into a Hypermarket - along with a brand new Pizzeria location.

Despite the changes, the parking lot shootouts may remain, but the area you once knew as such no longer exists.

Giant Hypermarket.

Easter eggs for the TV series "Stranger Things" in the Giant Hypermarket

We've already seen some high-profile crossovers in Fortnite Battle Royale - the most recent being Avengers: Endgame. However, we may have another interesting Event. Inside the Hypermarket is an ice cream parlor called Scoops Ahoy. While it may not sound like much evidence, the name and appearance of this area is very similar to the location shown in the recent Stranger Things season 4 trailer released by Netflix. It could be an early hint of a potential collaborative project, or it could be a few Stranger Things fans showing up on the Epic Games development team - at least that's something to look out for ahead of the show's release on July XNUMXth.

Heat Pipes

The interior of the Volcano has been renamed "Heat Pipes" as it looks like a Treacherous Funnel with pop-up lab tents and temporary ladders.

It's possible that there may be some changes along the way to Vulcan, and given that it looks nothing like its original appearance, it may not be very long before it completely disappears from the map.

Spontaneous Junkyard

No, the Junkyard hasn't had an overhaul like the New Towers, Hypermarket, or Heat Pipes, but there are a few easter eggs to find if you decide to visit.

The recently destroyed Clock Tower of the Abandoned Towers can now be broken down into materials closer to the back of the Spontaneous Junkyard, as well as a few others that you can recognize from the Vault event.

EPIC GAMES

You can collect the Clock Tower from the Waste Pile.

Sneaky Pond

It was an ever-changing attraction in Fortnite Battle Royale during Season 8, and now in Season 9, the lake has changed again.

While this may be one of the last remaining original locations by name, the screenshot below will give fans an idea of how it looks after the v9.00 update.

EPIC GAMES

The Sneaky Pond has certainly experienced an update in Season 9 of Fortnite Battle Royale.

Air Platforms

There have never been sky platforms in a battle royale game. Well, at least until season 9.

One of them, which is located next to the Treacherous Funnel, can be found below.

EPIC GAMES

Will there be more changes?

Despite the brand new futuristic theme, Towers and Point are the only areas where you can get the new update, so it's not out of the question that other areas will receive similar changes as well.

It remains to be seen if Epic has any plans to update the map during the season or if these three map changes are the only "new" attractions we'll be able to play this season.
