All World's End Map Changes in Apex Legends Season 6
In addition to the new character and fresh content coming to Apex Legends, Overclock Season 6 will also feature a host of map changes for World's Edge.
One of the reasons for updating the map is to bring some newness to the game with the start of the next season, so that you can explore new environments, use new routes, and master new strategies. It also gives designers the opportunity to improve the dynamics of the game on the map and the overall experience of the gameplay, while at the same time taking action on any burning issues that the developers have heard about from the community.
With that in mind, we'll start by defining what the guys at Respawn want to address ahead of Season 6:
- ➤ More lively game in the lava part of the map that needs improvements
- ➤ More efficient routes to get out of particularly dangerous bottlenecks
- ➤ New interesting mechanics on the maps that would create conditions for new battle scenarios
LAUNCH COMPLEX
Hammond Industries continues to take over World's End. They were clearly up to… something nefarious. The launch complex is located west of the Dome in a previously unoccupied lava field. At the center of this new point stands a giant rocket, towering over the mountains so that it can be seen even from the processing plant.
The complex has four spacious control rooms where you can keep the defense, and a lot of loot. There is enough space for many squads to disperse and move forward across the narrow bridges and lava-filled terrain in a struggle for survival.
One of the most interesting features of the launch complex is the new routes through this part of the map. A passage is laid along the rocky slope to the eastern side of the Tree.
The path to the sorting plant now leads to the launch complex itself, which offers a magnificent view of the south side of the factory.
There are more routes that allow you to leave the Dome, since the launch complex is very close and is a continuation of the path to the Tree. If you prefer to slide down the slope to the sorting plant, there is a new geyser in the lower basin, allowing you to quickly cross this ridge if the ring is about to catch up with you.
Countdown
The Drill Site has been replaced with Countdown, another large Hammond facility with an unknown purpose.
It is an imposing fortress with a high perimeter, having three huge blast-proof walls. These walls can be activated to rise and reinforce the Skyhook, Lava Rift, and Depot approaches (more on that later!).
Control points are separated by a deep pit in the center. The pit can be opened to gain access to better loot, but this is a dangerous move. Such a tidbit is visible from all sides, so first make sure that you control the entire area.
PREPARATION POINT
The preparation point is a smaller facility, but it is located in the middle of a busy area in the center of the map. This new landing site replaces the small town that used to be right under the railroad tracks east of the harvester. Now the battles here will be much more interesting, and there will be much more loot.
Instead of a town in the center of the pit, players will now have to climb up the raised edges of this area, using two more walls to build to reach the train tracks across the chasm. Standing wagons can serve as cover on the tracks, as well as connecting links in the battles for the control center.
We are also witnessing the departure of the Voyage Mirage from this area. Mr. Whitt has sent his personal yacht away from the End of the World... for a while.
EXPLOSION-RESISTANT WALLS
Buildable Walls is a new World's End mechanic. They can be found in the Launch Complex, Countdown, and Preparation Point. Activating the panel triggers the rise of a huge blast-proof wall, creating a defensive platform and permanently fortifying the position of any team lucky enough to be the first to take this wall.
If you decide to storm a guarded wall, there are always routes that allow you to go below or bypass this position. Well, legends that can move vertically can simply fly over.
PASS FROM EXPLORER CAMP TO SKYHOOK
Heading east from the explorer's camp, you will now find yourself on a new path that leads straight up the rocky slope, over the railroad, and to Skyhook.
This new passage will help you leave Skyhook, while making the Explorer Camp a little more attractive as a landing site or part of the route.
The train tunnels in this area are also full of loot and hiding places, so you'll now find more opportunities and fiercer resistance here.
MANY SMALL CHANGES AND ADDITIONS
The train has stopped!
With the start of season 6, the train was dismantled and strewn across World's End tracks.
This event in itself helped us to achieve one of our goals - to provide more opportunities for routes through especially terrible bottlenecks. Almost all of the tunnels that used to be free for the passage of a train (and therefore almost never used) are now occupied by fixed wagons and other shelters, as well as loot in small quantities.
In addition to a new geyser north of the Dome, another one has appeared south of the lava rift, making it a little easier to cross the deep sulfuric river.
On the map you will meet other small surprises. Look around!
We hope you enjoy the World's End changes made in Season 6 of Overclocking.
