Hitboxes For Every Hero In Overwatch
An Overwatch fan has gone through painstaking efforts to find the right hitbox for each character and passed them on to others thanks to the workshop.
Overwatch's creative workshop has allowed fans to create everything from new heroes to new game modes, and has even brought some outside games like Dota and Portal into the mix.
However, it is also the most practical option for being able to train and take your skills to the next level. Whether it's a goal trainer or fighting bots, there's a way to train everything you might need in workshop multiplayer. Now there's an even better way to practice accuracy thanks to one gamer revealing each precise hitbox.
In a post to the Overwatch subreddit, the user spadler097 revealed his detailed topic on how they made it possible to see the actual hitbox of each character using the workshop.
Using his own workshop code, combined with additional scripting, Redditor was able to document each character's images of where they were hit and where they weren't - using green dots to render the actual hitbox, which also includes a few spots that are next to the character model.
For example, while D.Va is in pilot mode, you cannot accurately hit the gun she is holding to deal damage. Every other part of her takes damage, but you're wasting time trying to disarm her.
Of course, knowing the opponent's hitbox isn't the cure for every problem with the game, but it's still nice to get accurate reports of what you need to hit in order to deal damage.
The hard work has been complemented by Overwatch fans in the stream. “Thanks for that,” commented Mick Jagger. “The Zen field is massive. It's disgusting."
Another user, Darkot, added: “Holy crap. I have to say that this is one of, if not the most impressive thing I have ever seen on this sub. It must have taken so long - but I'm so grateful that you took the trouble to make it. It's insanely helpful.”
Now, unfortunately, this is not a playable workshop mode, so if you want to get better, you'll have to study the GIFs and try to make it work in the game.
