YouTuber Goes Viral 'Trying Heroin' Live
Rapper Bishop Nehru under fire for using heroin in a YouTube video.
Rapper turned YouTuber Markel "Bishop Nehru" Scott has gone viral after releasing a video of him injecting heroin in an attempt to promote his latest music video.
Bishop Nehru had one of the most interesting career paths of any up-and-coming rapper of the last decade.
He gained attention early in his career, collaborating with some of rap's most iconic figures such as MF DOOM and even signed to Nas' label, Mass Appeal Records, at the ripe old age of 17.
Now Nehru has gone viral on social media for something completely unrelated to his rapping skills.
Bishop Nehru and the legendary MF DOOM released a collaborative album titled NehruvianDOOM back in 2014.
YouTuber goes viral for 'tasting heroin' video
On May 17, Nehru released a video titled "Heroin Addiction".
The clip, which the New York rapper posted on social media, instantly drew tons of attention as he appeared to be cooking and then injecting heroin to "commemorate its short-term side effects."
Just a day after it was posted, the announcement tweet has already garnered over 1000 replies and nearly 5000 quote tweets, many of which express concern about the video's content damaging it, as well as a harmful message to share with your followers.
One user said, “Bishop Nehru was assisted by Nas, MF DOOM and the Wu-Tang Clan and is now sticking clickbait needles. It is sad".
Bishop replied to a thread of comments on YouTube video, saying, "It's just art. Wait while I explain all this. I love you all and hope you are all safe."
After promising to explain the video, Nehru did not post it on social media.
Social media users noted that it is likely that the rapper didn't actually inject drugs, since the needle does not seem to hit his hand on the video.
Despite this, many shared their concern that the video's message could be harmful to its young audience.
