Animals Farming Simulator 22. Species, trade, maintenance, transportation, etc.

In our Farming Simulator 22 guide, you will learn about all the animals, the difficulties in growing and keeping them, as well as how to make money on them in the game.

Animals, just like crops, are an essential part of your farm in Farming Simulator 22. Let's take a look at all aspects of the game related to animals.

Types of animals

In total, the new Farming Simulator 22 has five types of animals available for breeding:

  • cows,
  • pigs,
  • chickens,
  • Horse
  • sheeps.

Bees stand apart, which are also very useful for the economy.

Buildings for animals

Before you start playing with animals, you need to prepare a place for keeping them and a place for grazing them. Having decided on the type of animals you will breed, you need to provide an advanced infrastructure that will help your farm flourish.

Open the building menu (buy menu, by default it is under the button P, select the last option in the list and click the button "Building"), then go to tab "Animals". Here you will see categories of animals. Choose a tab and a building that you can afford.

Note: Go to the game store and go to the construction menu. There you can select the type of animals, and then the available buildings - their place of residence. Each animal has its own buildings, in addition, they are divided into large and small (large ones are more expensive). Conventionally, such territories can be divided into paddocks and sheds. The latter will be immediately provided with water, so they can seriously make life easier, but for starters, you can get by with simple pens.

Buildings can only be placed on your own land, they cannot collide with fields or other objects, and must be placed on level ground or slight slopes - additional ground leveling costs will be added to your purchase.

Now you need to choose the right building or pasture. In the lower right corner you will see information about the differences in buildings. The main distinguishing features of farmhouses are their price and necessity. independent water supply your pastures.

The size of a building, related to the number of animals it can store. For example, farmhouses can only hold 30 chickens, while chicken coops can hold 360, with both buildings being the same size. You should also pay attention to the additional description: for example, the most expensive barn comes with a built-in robot that creates mixed feed without the need to use a separate vehicle for this - it is much more expensive.

Buying animals in Farming Simulator 22

There are two ways to buy and sell animals: by purchasing an animal trailer (this is a big investment in the base game, as besides horses, the only trailer available for transporting cattle, sheep, and pigs is wilson trailer silverstar at a price of 80 euros).

This requires a semi-trailer or dolly attached to the tractor to serve as a sort of "adapter". Buying a trailer can be very profitable, but only if you intend to breed animals to sell them later.

Drive up to the animal trade point, which is marked on the map with a blue cow's head, with a prepared trailer. Park on the paw marker and open the trade menu. Here you can buy and sell animals.

Note: If you don't want to waste time, approach the paddock you've built - you'll see a few icons. They can be disabled in the menu, but there is no point in doing so. You need a paw icon. By clicking on it, you will immediately be able to select the appropriate animals for a specific pen, but you will pay a shipping fee.

Please note that all types of animals have their own breeds, which in turn are divided by age. There is no point in overpaying for a breed, since the properties of all animals of the same species are the same. However, it is worth deciding on the age that affects reproduction (reproduction). Accordingly, older animals will bring offspring and resources for sale faster, but are significantly more expensive. Buying only cheap breeds of the youngest animals, you can save a lot, but get exactly the same resources.

Also, animals can be bought through the general store. There you will have to select the desired pen, but this method is no different from buying through the icon.

Management and tracking of animal performance

Now you need to provide pets with everything they need. Open the menu and go to the screen with the existing animals. There is a lot of useful information here, so read it carefully. You can see the total number of all animals, their location and types. Each species has parameters: age, health, needs, food and other specific characteristics.

Immediately after the purchase, almost everything will be at zero. Do not be afraid of low health - the death of livestock is possible, but not immediately. With a low standard of living, you will not receive the products of their vital activity from animals, which means profit. Increasing all indicators, you will automatically increase health. To do this, animals need to be looked after - cleaned, or walked. However, for most characteristics, it is sufficient to provide water, suitable food, and a place to sleep.

The characteristics of the food vary depending on the type - someone is suitable for ordinary grains, while others need a combined diet. Please note that at the bottom of the window with the parameters of the animal you can find information about the required food and the percentage of its effectiveness. This will help you remember who to feed. Concentrate on growing and purchasing sorghum, which is the staple crop most commonly used for food.

It is important to note that some characteristics depend on the place of residence. For example, in barns there is a constant supply of water, but in normal pens this setting will always be active for all animals that are in the open. In turn, sheds need straw for sleeping, but not in open places. This is useful to remember, as you can change the number of tasks yourself by moving animals from barns to pens and back. In the future, you can also buy a robot for automatic feeding, which will further simplify the care of livestock.

How to feed the animals

The necessary feed can be produced by growing in the fields, or bought in a store. In addition to grains, potatoes and other crops by weight, bales of feed for specific animal species are available. They already contain all the necessary ingredients. It costs more but saves time.

The resulting feed must be distributed among the paddocks. The unloading icon means that feed or straw for sleeping can be dumped here. Just drive a loader or tractor with a box and empty the contents - it's that simple.

If the cattle is fed with hay, it will not be possible to pour it. There are two ways how to solve this problem. The first is to buy a special machine that grinds grassy feed into a common bulk mass. Attach such a device to the tractor and drive up to the unloading icon, then everything is as usual. This method is especially relevant for cows. Another option is to pick up a bale of hay with a suitable loader and just throw it into the feeder - it will fill up anyway.

How to water animals

Most animals, in addition to food, also require water. This does not apply to bees and chickens. This is not a task that everyone would like to tackle, so you have the option to purchase outbuildings connected to the water supply, which means that there is no need to replenish their water supplies. This is only required if you are using the cheapest pasture, but applies to all other animal species.

You use a special tank to transport water, found in tab "Animal Store" - note that not every tanker has the same use, some are used for transporting water, others for fuel, still others for slurry or milk. You can fill your cistern using any body of water but its back must be submerged in water for the refill button to appear. Therefore, streams and shallow rivers will not be enough to fill the tank.

You can also build wells next to pastures. It does not automatically replenish the water level of the animals, but serves as a point at which you can fill up your tanker. Of course, you will need to pay for this. The cost isn't too high - a few hundred euros per tanker - but it can add up quickly if you have a lot of animals on different pastures.

How to get manure

Manure is a waste product of some animals. It is usually in a liquid state and is automatically collected in sheds. The place is marked with an icon with a special flask and a down arrow. To collect, you will need your own tank from the store. The principle is the same as with water, only this time the container will be filled. You can fertilize your fields with manure, or sell it in stores.

Features of keeping bees

Bees are the simplest living creature on your farm. It is enough to buy a hive, and insects will settle in it automatically. Bees not only produce honey, but also pollinate your fields. Therefore, the hives are divided not only by the size and number of insects living in them, but also by the coverage of pollination - from 25 to 150 meters.

Unlike sheds, in beehives you can separately build a place to collect honey. This means that the bees can be scattered around your area to maximize the benefits of the fields, but you will collect honey near the main farm.

Features of the purchase, maintenance and care of chickens

Chickens are very easy to keep. Having decided to start breeding them, you will choose between young chickens, hens and roosters. Chickens take time to reach egg-laying age, but they are the cheapest. Roosters do not have any properties, however, we assume that the presence of at least one rooster in a pen with hens will favorably affect their productivity and offspring.

Chicken indicators:

  • Health - the general condition of animals, initially at zero and increases over time if there is enough food;
  • Reproductivity - will be at zero in individuals younger than six months (10 in males). Presumably, the presence of roosters in the corral has a positive effect on this indicator, but chickens will begin to breed without them;
  • Productivity is a general measure of utility. Its level is affected by health, food and, most likely, the presence of roosters in the paddock;
  • Eggs are the main product that chickens produce. The more of them, the higher the indicator;
  • Food - Chickens only need grain, which includes wheat, barley or sorghum. You can choose any one plant culture - the efficiency will not decrease.

Eggs must be taken to the appropriate stores, a list of which can be seen by finding the product in the general menu of everything that is available to you.

Chickens do not need water and care, which allows you to make a profit from them at minimal cost.

Features of the purchase, maintenance and care of sheep

Having chosen a corral, you need to buy animals. Breeds do not matter - all sheep give only wool.

Sheep indicators:

  • Health - the general condition of animals, initially at zero and increases over time if there is enough food;
  • Reproductivity - will be at zero in individuals younger than five months. Reproduction will not increase at zero health, which means that sheep should never be left hungry;
  • Productivity is a general measure of utility. Its level is affected by health, food, water;
  • Wool is the main product that sheep produce. The more of them, the higher the indicator;
  • Water - this indicator will be relevant for animals in open pens;
  • Food - Sheep need grass, which includes grass and hay. You can choose one thing - the efficiency will not decrease.

By analogy with eggs, wool can be sold in suitable shops. If you have production buildings, wool can also be spent to create more expensive products.

Features of the purchase, maintenance and care of horses

Horses are very valuable animals. Although they don't produce anything, you can make a huge amount of money reselling them. To do this, horses need to be “pumped”.

After selecting the buildings, go to the animal store. Horses differ only in color, so choose according to your own preferences.

Horse indicators:

  • Health - the general condition of animals, initially at zero and increasing over time if there is enough food and care;
  • Cleanliness is an important indicator in horses. Initially, it is at the maximum, but the more you ride the horse, the dirtier it will be. Regular trips are the basis for improving physical capabilities, so this is necessary for subsequent profit;
  • Fitness is an indicator that is responsible for the general physical condition of the horse. The higher it is, the more expensive the animal is worth. You can download fitness with daily trips;
  • Daily trips is a number that will rise if you ride a horse. It will take a lot of time to pump to 100%, but this will affect the “fitness”. The next day you have to download again;
  • Water / Straw - an indicator that depends on the place of residence of horses. Open paddocks need water, sheds need straw;
  • Food - the diet of horses is wider than that of previous animal species. Their base food is oats or sorghum - 60% effective. Additionally, you can use hay - 40% efficiency.

The cost of one pumped, clean and healthy horse can increase 10 times or more, so do not neglect their breeding.

Features of the purchase, maintenance and care of pigs

Pigs are quite easy to care for, but they are difficult to feed. To achieve 100% effective nutrition, you need to collect a very diverse diet. The main product that pigs give is liquid manure, however you will not be able to collect it from open pens.

Choose a place for the pigs to live, as well as a breed. As with other animals, there is no point in buying someone other than the cheapest and youngest.

Pig indicators:

  • Health - the general condition of animals, initially at zero and increasing over time if there is enough food and care;
  • Reproductivity - will be at zero in individuals younger than four months. Reproduction will not increase at zero health, which means that pigs should never be left hungry;
  • Productivity is a general measure of utility. Its level is affected by health, food, water;
  • Water / Straw - an indicator depending on the place of residence of pigs. Open paddocks need water, sheds need straw;
  • Liquid manure is the main waste product, the indicator will increase over time, liquid manure cannot be collected on open pens;
  • Food - the diet of pigs is wider than that of previous animal species. Their base food is corn or sorghum - 50% effective. Additionally, you can use wheat or barley - 25% efficiency, soybeans, rapeseed, sunflower - 20% efficiency, potatoes, sugar beets - 5% efficiency. You don't always have to feed the animals at 100% efficiency, so 5% can be donated to save money.

To pump liquid manure, you will need a special tank, which can be bought at the store.

Features of the purchase, maintenance and care of cows

Cows do not differ in breeds, but different in age. They also have the longest reproductive life. For full feeding, you will need a special grinder, although no one bothers to feed in the usual way. For milk you need to buy a tank. Moreover, cows do not give milk until the first calves appear.

Cow indicators:

  • Health - the general condition of animals, initially at zero and increasing over time if there is enough food and care;
  • Reproductivity - will be at zero in individuals younger than ten months. Reproduction will not increase at zero health, which means that cows should never be left hungry;
  • Productivity is a general measure of utility. Its level is affected by health, food and water;
  • Water / Straw - an indicator depending on the place of residence of cows. Open paddocks need water, sheds need straw;
  • Liquid manure is a waste product, the indicator will increase over time, liquid manure cannot be collected on open pens;
  • Milk is the main product of life. The milk collection icon is the same as that of the manure, but located on the other side of the barn - do not confuse;
  • Food is somewhat different from other animals. Their base food is a mixed diet - 100% effective. To get it, you will have to buy a grinder, into which you need to load various bales of crops and useful additives. The machine will show the optimal amount of all ingredients, but you still have to tinker with determining the exact amount of each of the constituent elements. In fact, you need to mix all types of herbs. There is an easier way - as the recommended food, you can use hay - 80% efficiency and grass - 40% efficiency. Combine grass and hay to reach the same 100%.

Milk is a great product that is easy to sell or use in more complex production. In addition, the older the cows, the more milk can be collected.

Despite the variety of livestock, the game has a single clear system that allows you to manage them. As your production develops, you will be able to buy more advanced equipment that will greatly facilitate your daily routine.
