First event Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland is now active as the holiday season is in full swing. Here's everything you need to know about the Christmas Special, from skins, modes, and everything in between.

Launched earlier this year, Overwatch 2's holiday events kicked off shortly after the recent Halloween special Junkenstein's Revenge. However, with Christmas approaching, the Overwatch community can now dive into the next edition of the popular Winter Wonderland event.

From key dates to keep in mind to a look at the limited time modes on offer, here's a complete rundown of everything there is to know about Overwatch 2022's Winter Wonderland 2 event.

Overwatch 2 Winter's Tale 2022 Event Dates

Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland First Event started on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. It will currently last until Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

This gives players three weeks to make the most of the holidays and grab time-limited cosmetics before they are out of the rotation for another year.

Winter's Tale 2022 skins and cosmetics: what exclusives are available?

Only one new Overwatch 2 skin can be purchased for free at this year's Winter Wonderland event. Ice Queen Brigitte can be unlocked by completing six of the eight challenges before the time runs out.

Below is a look at the eight challenges you can choose from, as well as a preview of Brigitte's Ice Queen skin.

•  Warmth of the Heart: Unfreeze 15 allies in Frozen Elimination. Reward: graffiti Kiriko "Christmas decoration";
• Cold: Catch 6 snowballs in Snowball Rush. Reward: Vulture Queen "Christmas Tree" graffiti;
• Outrageous: Win a Yeti Hunt match as a Yeti. Reward: graffiti of Ramattra "Christmas decoration";
• Block of Ice: Block 8 snowballs with Cryostasis or Ice Wall in Snowfall or Operation Blizzard. Reward: graffiti Sojorn "Christmas decoration";
• Cold Calculation: Win a Ice Elimination match. Reward: 1500 Battle Pass XP
•  Blizzard: Win a Blizzard match.
• Monster Hunt: Win a Yeti Hunt match with Mei.
• Cocoa Time: Win an Operation Blizzard match

 Congratulations: Complete 6 challenges of the Winter's Tale event. Rewards: Brigitte's Epic Skin "Ice Queen" and Weapon Talisman "Snowman's Head".

Winter Wonderland 2022 limited time game modes

Three different arcade modes are available to fans this year at the Winter Wonderland event. Two of them bring back core products, and one is a brand new addition to Overwatch 2.

First, Mei's Snowball Offensive is back, as you'd expect, although there's a key change to keep in mind this time around. Instead of spraying a jet of frost or charging up to hit an icicle like before, Mei now fires snowballs for instant knockouts. This mode can be played in either 6v6 style or FFA settings.

Next up is Mei's Yeti Hunt, a 5v1 "raid boss" mode that pits five heroes against one defeated Winston. There are no changes to refresh this mode in 2022.

Last but not least, a new game mode in Freezethat Elimination, Blizzard's take on the "freeze tag". Here your goal is to freeze all enemy players at once. By simply eliminating the hero, they will be frozen in place indefinitely. The only way to get them back into the fight is to have teammates unfreeze them.

Winter's Tale 2022 Twitch Drops

Not unlike previous events in Overwatch 2, certain cosmetics can be earned simply by watching Twitch streams during the Winter Wonderland event. From December 25 to January 4, Twitch streams with drops enabled will provide the following rewards:

• Watch 2 Hours: Unlock Festive D.Va Victory Pose.
• Watch 4 hours: Unlock D.Va's sleigh legendary skin.

This legendary D.Va skin can only be unlocked with a Twitch drop.
