This manual page for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order suggests how to increase BD-1's healing charges. This droid will accompany the protagonist from the first chapter onwards. This knowledge can be very useful in keeping the protagonist alive.
BD-1 has the ability to restore lost health points. This is also the main method of healing the hero, excluding meditation points. Initially, the droid has only two healing charges - this may not be enough for large battles or fights with difficult bosses.
You can increase the number of healing charges by finding Barrel Canisters. You don't automatically get them by making progress. Instead, you need to look for them yourself - these are collectibles/secrets. New canisters are stored in yellow chests - see below. drawing.
Each time you find a new yellow box and open it, the number of available healing charges increases by 1.
The first yellow chest can be found on Bogano, the “starter” planet. You run into him on your way back to the ship, after visiting the vault and listening to the hologram. Next to the structure resembling a stone amphitheater, you can find a large hole in the ground. Jump into it to land next to the yellow chest.
The second yellow chest is on the planet that Zeffo visited in the second chapter. You can find him shortly after landing on the planet. It is located inside a cave that can be accessed by turning off the main path. You will also have to jump over some rocks. The cave is very dark, but Cal can light his way with his lightsaber.
