Shenmue 3 - Kung Fu Guide
Kung Fu in Shenmue 3 refers to the fighting style Ryo Hazuki uses in battle. Below you will find all the information related to kung fu and how to improve its effectiveness.
Ryo uses kung fu to defeat his enemies in combat. Kung Fu determines how strong Ryo is overall, both his damage and health, and can be improved by training two main stats called attack and defense.
Атака
Attack is one of the two main characteristics of Kung Fu. The attack level determines how much damage Ryo's attack will deal if it is successfully landed on an enemy. Leveling your attack will increase your kung fu experience level bar.
The attack can be upgraded in two different ways:
➤Training: You can access the training using dummies located outside of the dojo. Once you have access to the dummies, select the impact training and the training will begin.
➤This tutorial requires you to press the X button when both blue lines align in the center of the screen. The best timings provide the best attack.
Note: training consumes HP, so it is recommended to carry food if you are going to do extended training practice.
➤Sparring: You can increase your attack by performing sparring matches against any opponent. You can always find a sparring partner at the dojo
Note: Sparring consumes HP, so it is recommended to carry food if you are going to do extended training practice.
Endurance
Endurance is one of the two main characteristics of Kung Fu. Endurance level determines health points (HP) and Re resistance stamina. Having higher stamina will allow Ryo to take more damage and increase his chances of surviving in combat. Leveling up stamina will increase your kung fu experience bar level.
Endurance can be pumped:
➤Training: You can access training from the horse position dummies located outside the dojo. Once you have access to the dummies, select the position of the horse and the training will begin.
➤In this exercise, you should keep Ryo's hands in line with the green line in the middle of the screen. Ryo will constantly push up and the player can press X to lower their arms and keep them aligned. The longer you keep your hands aligned on the green line, the more experience you get.
Note: training consumes HP, so it is recommended to carry food if you are going to do extended training practice.
Acquiring and Equipping Skills
Skills are used in combat to perform unique combat moves. In order to use a skill, you must first equip the skill book. Before the fight, select a skill as an active ability, and then press the indicated buttons during the fight.
You can acquire new skills using skill books. Skill books can be obtained through various means such as: buying, trading herb sets and capsule sets, mini-games, etc. Once Ryo has a skill book in his possession, he can equip it and use that skill in combat.
Skills vary widely, providing Ryo with many ways to attack his enemies and suit many playstyles.
Professional education
Some skills can be leveled up when acquired (they will show up with a yellow circle above them). To do this, you can talk to a sparring partner and start sparring.
While in the spar, you will notice that time slows down and a menu with four colored buttons will appear. You must quickly press the buttons of the skill that is currently active (shown at the bottom left of the screen) in order to successfully gain experience. Depending on how fast you can press the buttons, you will gain more or less experience.
Note: Sparring consumes HP, so it is recommended to carry food if you are going to do extended training practice.
